Five years ago, on October 9th, Malala Yousafazi was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban. She was singled out on a bus filled with schoolchildren and was shot twice, once in the head and in the neck. She was actively standing up for girls’ rights to an education in Pakistan. This year on October 9th, Malala began her classes at Oxford University.

The world’s youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate, announced Monday on Twitter that she was attending her first classes at the elite British institution. She was formally accepted to the Lady Margaret Hall in August, the same Oxford college that Benazir Bhutto, the first female prime minister of Pakistan, attended in the 1970s. Malala enrolled in August and will be studying philosophy, politics, and economics.

In case you don’t know her story:

YES YOU, MALALA. WE LOVE YOU, GIRL.
