Probably all those who read this now know each other but no one knows the one who writes.I’m Mary from Armenia.Where is it?Sure you don’t know.It borders on Georgia,Azerbaijan,Turkey,Iran. It has a small territory of 29000 square kilometers and a population of about 3million.
It’s one of the oldest countries in the world.
It’s the first country that adopted christianity in the world.
It’s a museum in the open air.
Comparing with USA everything is different there. It’s not better, not worse, just different.Starting from watching TV and ending from behavior ,values. We do everything differently ,we think differently that is why I’m here now to learn how you live and show how we live. As an exchange student I came here and experienced  what always happens with thousand of students every year. It’s “cultural shock”.It’s the feeling you have when you enter a new community ,new culture and see that nothing is going in the way you expected.
At first you feel scared. You can’t understand the language and say “Can you repeat it, please?”for a hundred times a day.You want to go home as you think you’ll never be able to get used to all these. You can’t sleep ,eat and everything reminds you friends and family. That’s how it feels at first. The only thing you can do is to wait for changes. Then something happens and you start to feel just normal. You have some friends here and they welcome you so warm. You just start enjoy you exchange year. But things are going bad but you’re a survivor now.You feel very proud of yourself as you’re so strong. And one day you see that you have already adopted new culture ,you have done one of the bravest things in your life and “cultural shock” has already gone. And that will be the day you should return as your exchange is over now. That’s how it feels during these 9 at first long but then short months.
