This past weekend Kauai fell victim to heavy rain and flooding over the island. Just from Saturday and Sunday Kauai got 288mm of rain, two years worth of rainfall in LA. Landslides and flooding have engulfed many roads and highways making travel very difficult on the island. Over one hundred people were evacuated by air air this weekend, and another hundred by ground. Cars and houses have been destroyed, as well as many crops on local farms. This devestating event has cost the people of Kauai so much, and as others have seen this, they’ve begun to assist in any way possible. An event like this reminds us of the fragility of our world, and should make us appreciate what we have.
