The air.

The air that hadn’t been breathed,

The floors that hadn’t been walked,

The doors that were never opened,

And the happiness that was forced away

Wandering through the empty memories

And reminiscing on life

brings me sorrow and peace.

Home.

My home.

The carcass of what was once

A vibrant and lively family.

No more chatter

No more love

All that is left

are the doors that were never opened,

the floors that hadn’t been walked,

and the air that hadn’t been breathed.

The air.
