Game of Thrones, one of the most popular television shows today, receives backlash on their eight season. With five out of six episodes released, fans show ever-growing criticism towards the final season.

The Season 8 premiere was the most in demand television episode in history! With 7 seasons, all ranked over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 8 had a lot of expectations to fulfill as the final season of Game of Thrones.

The first three episodes of the season received positive feedback with remaining consistent high scores.

Fans were immediately disappointed by the fourth episode with how rushed and inconsistent the plot played out. With 5 episodes out, Season 8 is currently ranked at 71% by critics and 42% by viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.

The disappointment lead fans to take it to the next level by fabricating a petition to remake the series after the remaining novels, written by George R. R. Martin, are released. According to Lisa Respers France, “As of Thursday morning a Change.org petition titled “Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers.” had more than 350,000 signatures” They are just 150,000 signatures short of their goal of 500,000 signatures.

The episodes are still receiving millions of views, setting countless amounts of records in television history. The writers did express their worry for the reaction to how the show would end, considering the pressure from loyal fans and critiques.

If the season finale doesn’t live up to fans’ expectations, then the petition might gain even more success.
